Thousands of voters cast their votes to elect the public representatives at the Jessore Municipality yesterday.
The voting started at 9.00 am and continued till 4.00 pm without any halt. No clash or any untoward incident was reported from any of the 36 polling centers.
Enthusiastic voters started to queue up center from 8.00 am. The presiding officer of the center opened the voting right at 9.00 am. There were eight booths at the centre five or men and three for women. The centre had around 15.000 voters and 800 percent of them cast their votes. Nine candidates were contesting for the Mayor post, while 54 people were competing for the posts of ward councilor.
Members from the law enforcement agencies including police, Rapid Action Battalion and BGB kept vigil in and around the centre.
As the voting ended, all polling officers started counting the voles in presence of the polling agents of different candidates.
Till filing of the report a 7.30 pm, vote count was going on.
