The Monkey and The Dolphin : Short Story for Kids: Aesop's Fables
Once upon a time, a bunch of sailors set off on their sailing ship. One of them brought his pet monkey along for the long journey. But then, a really bad storm came and flipped their ship over. Everyone ended up in the water and tried to swim to safety, including the monkey. Back then, dolphins were really nice to people, and they would have all drowned if it weren't for the dolphins. The dolphins helped the shipwrecked people by carrying them on their backs and swimming them to the shore.
One of the dolphins saw the monkey struggling in the water. At first, the dolphin thought the monkey was a person, so the dolphin let the monkey climb onto its back. Then they swam together toward the land.
Eventually, they reached an icy place, and the monkey got off the dolphin's back. The dolphin asked the monkey, "Do you recognize this place?" The monkey said, "Yes, I know it well. In fact, I'm friends with the king of this place. And did you know that I'm actually a prince?" The dolphin knew about the icy land and replied, "Now you can become a king!"
The monkey was curious and asked, "How can I become a king?" The dolphin went a bit further and explained, "Since you're the only creature here, you naturally become the king!"
