Getting into universities in Bangladesh is tough and competitive for students who want to continue their education after high school. Many students want to join these universities, but there aren't enough spots available in public universities compared to the number of applicants. So, the university leaders set a minimum requirement that students need to meet to even apply. After that, students have to take a test for admission, which helps choose the best students. They also look at the grades from high school exams along with the admission test score. Based on how well students do, the university leaders make a list of the top performers. They only pick the students with the highest scores who can fit into the available spaces. This means many students can't get into public universities. They might try to go to private universities, but those can be very expensive. Some students who can't afford the high costs apply to government and non-government colleges that are part of the National University. Even there, especially in government colleges, students have to take another admission test. So, getting into universities in Bangladesh is a tough task, especially for students who are less well-off or don't have the highest grades.
