Emily Dickinson Paragraph
Emily Dickinson is seen as one of the best female poets in American writing. She was born on December 10, 1830, in a small American town named Amherst, in Massachusetts. Her dad, Edward Dickinson, was a lawyer and politician. Her mother was Emily Norcross Dickinson. Emily learned mostly at home and then went to a school called Amherst Academy. Later, in 1847, she went to Mount Holyoke Female Seminary.
In 1853, she traveled to different cities like Boston, Washington, and Philadelphia. During this time, she met Charles Wadsworth, a clergyman, and some stories say she fell in love with him. She never got married, though. Emily lived with her family until 1855 when her dad passed away. She also made some poet friends like Helen Hunt Jackson.
Emily wrote many poems, over a thousand, but most of them were not published while she was alive. Only a few were printed. After she died on May 15, 1886, more of her poems were published. Her complete poems were first published in 1924, and more collections came out later.
Even though she's not alive anymore, Emily Dickinson's poems are still read and loved today.
