Flood, A Common Natural Calamity in Bangladesh Paragraph
Flood, a Common Natural Disaster in Bangladesh
Bangladesh is a country that often experiences different types of natural disasters almost every year. It seems like these natural disasters are frequent visitors to the people of Bangladesh. That's why Bangladesh is referred to as a place where natural disasters happen often. Floods, cyclones, droughts, erosion, and heavy rainfall are the usual natural disasters in our country. Among them, floods are the most widespread. When a large amount of water covers a large area that is normally dry, we call it a flood. Floods usually happen during the months of 'Ashar' and 'Shraban,' and they are mainly caused by heavy rain. Floods lead to significant loss of lives and property. Crops, streets, roads, and even houses become submerged in water. As a result, affected people face many difficulties. They lose their homes and become helpless, seeking refuge on the roofs of houses, in trees, on boats, and along embankments. Their troubles continue even after the floodwaters recede. Following floods, food shortages and disease outbreaks occur, taking many lives. Just last year, a terrible flood happened in the southern part of our country, destroying numerous houses and properties.
