An Honest Woodcutter Story

Once upon a time, in a little village, there lived a man who cut wood for a living. One sunny day, he was busy chopping wood by a river when, accidentally, his axe slipped from his grasp and plunged into the water. Now, this woodcutter didn't know how to swim or dive, so he sat there feeling quite sad and hopeless.

But then, out of nowhere, something amazing occurred. A truly beautiful fairy appeared right in front of the woodcutter. She saw his tears and asked him kindly what was wrong. With a heavy heart, he shared his tale of woe with her.

Feeling compassion for the woodcutter, the fairy decided to help. She gracefully dived into the river and emerged holding an axe made of pure gold. She inquired if it belonged to him. The woodcutter, however, shook his head, acknowledging that the golden axe wasn't his.

Unperturbed, the fairy dove into the water again, this time coming back with a shiny silver axe. She held it out to the woodcutter, asking if it was his. Once more, the woodcutter shook his head, showing his honesty.

The fairy wasn't discouraged. She took one final plunge into the river and resurfaced, clutching an axe made of iron – the very same kind the woodcutter had lost. As soon as he saw his familiar iron axe, joy flooded the woodcutter's heart. He expressed his gratitude to the fairy for finding and returning his treasured tool.

Touched by the woodcutter's honesty, the fairy beamed with delight. She was so impressed by his truthful nature that she decided to reward him generously. In addition to his own iron axe, she gifted him the valuable golden and silver axes as tokens of her appreciation. And so, the woodcutter's honesty led to a truly magical and well-deserved reward.
