War of Independence Paragraph
The story is about when Bangladesh became its own country. Before 1971, it was called East Pakistan. At that time, we were part of Pakistan. They treated us badly and didn't give us our rights. On March 25, 1971, the Pakistani army came and hurt many people, including women. But we couldn't take it anymore. We decided to fight back and protect our land. Regular people, with help from India, fought against the Pakistani army. They fought for freedom. So, it's the story of Bangladesh becoming independent. It took nine months of hard fighting, and many people died, around three million. Many smart people from the country were also killed. Many villages, schools, and colleges were destroyed. Our roads, trains, boats, and planes stopped working.
Now we're a free country, and March 26 is our Independence Day. We celebrate this day every year with lots of excitement. It's a national holiday. The day starts with 31 gunshots. Early in the morning, the President and Prime Minister lay flowers at the National Monument in Savar to remember the people who died. People from all parts of life come with marches and parades. The country also sees a fancy parade of different army groups and cultural shows. People pray at mosques, temples, and churches for those who died in the war for independence. At night, important buildings are lit up with colorful lights.
