Paragraph on Hilsha Fish
Ilish or Hisla is a well-known fish in Bangladesh and India. It is considered the national fish of Bangladesh and people really enjoy eating it because it is very tasty. It holds a significant place in Bengali traditions, especially during the first day of the Bengali year or Pahela Baishakh, when people love to have Hilsa fish with panta vat.
There is a saying, "Fish and Rice are loved by Bengalis", which means Bengalis have a fondness for fish and rice. Hilsa fish is special and can only be found in large rivers, not in regular ponds or haors. The Padma river is famous for having very delicious Ilish.
Unfortunately, the number of Ilish fish is decreasing every year. This is mainly due to greedy fishermen who catch young and mother Ilish. To address this issue, the government of Bangladesh passed a law in 2003, making it illegal to catch young and mother Ilish, with the punishment of imprisonment for violators.
Although this law has brought some changes, it hasn't fully protected the fish. The demand for Hilsa fish is high in Bangladesh and India, and there is even an opportunity to export it worldwide. It has become a significant business. It is important for all of us to work together and protect our beautiful Hilsa fish.
