Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Independence
The Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Independence is a special celebration that happens after 50 years since Bangladesh became its own country separate from Pakistan.
50 years ago, Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan and now in 2021, we are getting ready to celebrate this milestone.
Bangladesh was born as an independent country in 1971, under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is known as the Father of the Nation. However, this independence came at a great cost, with three million people losing their lives and almost half a million women facing hardships.
The celebration of the Golden Jubilee is very important because it marks the end of a nine-month-long war for liberation and puts Bangladesh on the world map as an independent nation.
Originally, the celebration was planned to last for a whole year, starting from March 26, 2020, to December 16, 2021. It was also combined with the 'Mujib Borsho,' celebrating the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. But unfortunately, the celebration had to be shortened because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
