Letter describing observance of Pahela Baishakh
Date: November 30, 20__
Dear Rezoana,
I hope this letter finds you well and in good spirits. I'm doing well too, thanks to the blessings of the Almighty. I wanted to share with you about our recent celebration of Pahela Baishakh, the Bengali New Year's Day, at our school.
Pahela Baishakh is an important day that represents our Bengali culture. It's a day of celebration and is observed with traditional activities all across the country. The day is even declared a public holiday. Early in the morning, people from different age groups and religions gather at a specific place, dressed in traditional clothing, to welcome the new year with songs and music.
At our school, both students and teachers came together, wearing traditional clothes, to celebrate this special day. We sang songs together, welcoming the new year in unison. Artists also performed traditional folk songs and baul songs, adding to the festive atmosphere. People enjoyed treats like batasha (molasses cake) and khoi (parched rice). Personally, I relished a dish called panta-illish with a lot of delight.
On this day, everyone wears new clothes and visits various public places. It's a memorable day that holds a special place in our hearts.
I'll end the letter here for now. Let's catch up more when we meet in person. Feel free to write back whenever you have the time.
Sending you lots of love and good wishes,
Farjana
