Letter to Your Friend About the Nobel Peace Prize of Dr. Muhammad Yunus and Grameen Bank

Dear Evana,

I'm happy to share some great news with you! On September 13, 2006, something truly special happened in the history of Bangladesh. The Nobel Peace Prize for that year was announced by a group called the Nobel Peace Committee in a place called Oslo, Norway. This prize is a very important award that is given to people who have done outstanding things to make the world more peaceful and better.

This time, the prize went to a person named Dr. M. Yunus. He's the person who started something called Grameen Bank. And guess what? This prize is not just for him, but for everyone who works at Grameen Bank too. They have been working really hard for more than 30 years. But you know who the real heroes are? It's the poor women in Bangladesh.

These women did something amazing. They borrowed small amounts of money from Grameen Bank, used that money to do good things, and then paid back almost all of it. It's like they took a little help, used it wisely, and then gave it back. Because of them, Dr. Yunus and the Grameen Bank people got this special award.

There are also other places that do similar things to help poor people, and even there, these women prove how capable they are. It's so impressive that these same women who were struggling now want respect from everyone. So, we should really congratulate Dr. Yunus, the Grameen Bank workers, and all those millions of brave women who borrowed money and worked hard. Let's give them a big round of applause and say thanks for making our country proud.

Imagine this: the whole world should now see and understand how these women, who didn't have many advantages, did something amazing to escape from being very poor. If all these women didn't use the money properly and give it back, Grameen Bank and other similar places wouldn't be as successful as they are today. We owe a lot to these women who basically won this prize for our country. Sending love to you!

With love,
Rimu
