Letter to Your Friend Living Abroad Describing the Rainy Season of Bangladesh
Dear Anna,
I just got your letter. You asked about the rainy time in Bangladesh. The rainy season here lasts for two months, called Ashar and Shrabon. During the summer, a wind from the southeast called the monsoon brings rain to Bangladesh. The hot weather makes sea water turn into vapor. This vapor becomes clouds when it cools down. The sky gets covered in these dark clouds, and then heavy rain starts to fall.
Sometimes, the rain continues for a few days. This makes all the roads get covered in mud and become slippery. Too much rain can also cause floods in our country. Floods are bad because they damage crops. Even though the government is trying to help, the problem is still there. The fields where corn grows end up under water, and the villages in Bangladesh look like islands.
Take care.
With love,
Suchi.
