Rohingya Crisis Paragraph
The Rohingya Crisis
When we talk about the Rohingya Crisis, we're talking about a difficult situation involving people who had to leave their homes in Myanmar and now live in Bangladesh. Around 850,000 to 950,000 Rohingya folks had to escape to Bangladesh since August 25, 2017. They did this because they were being treated badly because of their background and beliefs by the people who were supposed to protect them in Myanmar. Additionally, about 900,000 Rohingya people had already moved to Bangladesh over the last thirty years due to troubles with the government in Myanmar.
The leaders in Myanmar don't really accept the Rohingya people as legal citizens of their country. They say that these people actually came from Bangladesh a long time ago, when Myanmar was ruled by the British. The government of Myanmar insists that they are staying in Myanmar without permission. The Rohingya people who are now living in Bangladesh are facing a lot of problems that have to do with basic needs. They don't have enough food, proper places to stay, clean water, or good sanitation facilities. This is especially hard for women and children, who are suffering the most. They can't even take a proper bath, which makes them sick and prone to diseases.
The Bangladesh government is now working closely with a group called IOM and other organizations to create a new space where the Rohingya people can live. This new area will be about 2000 acres big. Until this new place is ready, the people still living in the Rohingya villages in Cox's Bazar need help. They need things like food, clean water, and medical support.
