Dear Editor,

I hope this letter finds its way into your respected newspaper. I am writing to bring attention to a concerning issue regarding our law and order situation.

In recent times, the safety and security in the Banani area have taken a nosedive. Various groups of criminals have become quite active in the vicinity. This has led to an alarming increase in incidents like killings, robberies, carjackings, sexual assaults, and thefts, all of which have become distressingly common occurrences in the area. What's even more alarming is that some of these crimes are happening right out in the open, during the day.

As a result of this deteriorating situation, the local residents are finding it increasingly difficult to navigate the streets without fear. Particularly distressing is the harassment that young girls going to school and college face from individuals commonly known as "eve teasers." This sense of insecurity has left them feeling unsafe during their daily commutes.

The overall sense of peace and security within the community has been completely shattered. The criminals have taken to extorting money from local business owners using mobile phones, and they resort to threats of violence if their demands are not met. Unfortunately, it seems that the entire area has fallen under the grip of these wrongdoers. It's disheartening to note that some of these criminals enjoy political protection, which emboldens them further.

Regrettably, the law enforcement agencies seem to be somewhat less active in our area. We hold out hope that both the police and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will intensify their efforts to apprehend these habitual criminals. Such measures are essential to restore a sense of peace and safety, allowing our community to lead a tranquil and secure social life once more.

Sincerely,
B
Resident of Banani, Dhaka
