Composition | A Drowing Accident

There was a fair happening in a village. Many people gathered near the river. Some went there to take a bath, while others came just to see the fair. Some people wanted to go boating too. In this way, a lot of people had come together at the river.

The river wasn't overflowing that day, but the water was dirty. It was also very deep. Some areas were considered dangerous. Signs had been put up there to warn people. There were rumors that the river had crocodiles and alligators. It was said that a few days ago, someone had been taken away by an alligator.

Despite all this, many people still went there to bathe. From the riverbank, you could see different types of bathers. Some people only went a few steps into the water, bathing in knee-deep water. Some went a bit farther, with the water reaching up to their chests. These people didn't stay in the water for more than a few minutes. They took a couple of dips and then got out. Some people knew how to swim. They went to the middle of the river and sometimes even dived. There were two or three experienced swimmers who crossed the river. They seemed to be from the village and didn't seem to mind the river's current or the coldness of the water.

But one of these swimmers faced a strange fate. He swam across the river twice, impressing everyone with his strong strokes. However, after some time, he started getting tired. He slowly began to sink. Nobody paid much attention, thinking he was just diving. After a while, he weakly cried for help. People then realized he was drowning. Some people in boats rushed to the spot and found his lifeless body.

It was a tragedy because the young man left behind a widow and two small sons.
