Story | A Farmer And His Sons

Once upon a time, there was an old farmer who lived in a small village. This farmer had three sons, but they were always arguing with each other for no reason. The farmer was very worried about their unruly behavior. He tried to advise them many times to stop fighting, but they didn't listen to him.

One day, the farmer became very sick and it seemed unlikely that he would recover. He decided to teach his sons a lesson about the importance of being united. He asked them to bring a bundle of sticks. Surprisingly, they quickly brought the bundle to him. Then he asked them if any of them could break the bundle. The sons eagerly accepted the challenge.

The youngest son tried his best to break the bundle, but he couldn't do it. Then the elder son took a turn, but he also failed to break the bundle. Finally, the eldest son, feeling angry and determined, stepped forward to break it. However, he couldn't break the bundle either.

At this point, the wise old farmer told them to untie the bundle and break the sticks one by one. They followed his instructions and easily broke the sticks individually. The farmer explained to them that when the sticks were tied together, they were strong and couldn't be broken easily. But when they were separate, they became weak and could be broken easily.

The farmer wanted his sons to understand that they would be strong if they stayed united and supported each other. However, if they fought and argued amongst themselves, they would be easily defeated. Finally, his sons realized the importance of their father's advice and promised not to quarrel with each other anymore.

Moral : Majority is an authority/ Unity is a shield against defeat/ Union is strength/Two and two make four.
