Composition | A Village Fair
A village fair is a special event that attracts people from the village. Especially the children eagerly look forward to it. Different kinds of goods are brought here to be displayed and sold.
The village fair takes place on a special occasion. Usually, it happens on the Bengali New Year's Day. In some villages, it occurs on the last day of "Chaitra". A village fair usually lasts for a day or multiple days. It is usually held in an open area in the middle of the village.
Potters, weavers, carpenters, and many other small traders come to the fair to sell their products. Apart from them, there are also toys, fancy items, and sweets available for sale. Children gather around these shops with their guardians and buy things they like.
However, village fairs also have drawbacks. They lack proper sanitation and can be noisy. Pickpockets and gambling groups are often found in village fairs.
There are various forms of entertainment in a village fair. There are merry-go-rounds, cinemas, theater groups, circus acts, magic shows, and musical performances organized in the fair. Among them, merry-go-rounds hold a special charm for children.
A village fair brings a lot of enjoyment. It also supports the growth of small industries in the village. It showcases the culture of our rural society. It has a significant impact on the lives of the villagers. A village fair serves as a form of recreation for the village people.
