Story | Flattery Injures The Most

Once upon a time, there was a crow who found a piece of bread. It flew up to a tree and perched there to eat it. As the crow enjoyed its meal, a hungry fox happened to pass by and noticed the crow with the delicious bread. The fox wanted to have it for herself.

The fox decided to flatter the crow in order to get the bread. She said, "Mr. Crow! You have such a beautiful face and shiny feathers. Your voice is sweet, and when you sing, it enchants everyone who hears it. I am really eager to hear your lovely, melodious song. Please sing for me and make me happy."

The crow, being naive and simple-minded, believed the fox and thought highly of himself as a great singer. So, he started to caw, trying to impress the fox with his voice. Unfortunately, as soon as the crow opened its beak to sing, the piece of bread fell down from its mouth. The fox quickly grabbed the bread and ran away with it.
