Composition | Our Independent Day

Every country desires freedom and must struggle against its ruling power to achieve it. When their desire for freedom becomes stronger, they attempt to fight and sometimes succeed or fail. Once they win the war, they celebrate a specific date known as Independence Day, where they showcase various activities. In our country, we celebrate our independence every year with great pride.

Despite facing several failed attempts to achieve our aspirations, Pakistani soldiers began fighting against us on the night of March 25th. This night is considered a dark chapter in our history. Therefore, March 26th is recognized as our Independence Day. The war lasted for nine months until we finally became free when the Pakistani soldiers surrendered under the leadership of Mr. G.S. Aurora, the East General of India, in Sohrawardi Udyan. However, we had to release the Pakistani soldiers as part of the Indira-Muzib agreement in Simla, as decided by Pakistan. Thus, our tragedy began.

On that day, we commence our activities from the night before with Toppothani at 12:01 a.m. In the morning, we offer flower bouquets at the National Memorial in Savar. Then we organize various programs, such as student assemblies, in Bangabandhu Stadium. We enjoy their physical activities, try to make them happy, and encourage them to promise to safeguard the future of our country. We award prizes for their outstanding achievements, rejuvenating and motivating them for the future. In the evening, we hold discussions about Independence Day, inviting freedom fighters to share their experiences during the war.

Since that day, we remember our freedom fighters for their selfless sacrifices on every Independence Day. They fought against enemy soldiers to secure our economic development, with the dream of making our country prosperous. Unfortunately, their dream remains unfulfilled to this day. Their spirits may not be content with our failures. We mourn for them but cannot sacrifice for their sake.

As an independent nation, we have not made our country prosperous through diligent work. We tend to be lazy in our tasks but skilled in criticizing and hating others. Nowadays, we are so enraged that we cannot tolerate differing opinions, which is not suitable for our democracy. We should embrace a more open-minded approach in our thoughts, preferences, and beliefs.

Independence Day is not only about honoring our freedom fighters but also serves as a reminder of our responsibilities, both past and present. We remember them and strive to be competitive in the global arena. We should endeavor to earn honestly, as it is the best way to counter our enemies.
