Composition | Your Favorite Poet

My favorite poet is Kazi Nazrul Islam. He was born in a village called Churulia in Burdwan. His birthday was in Jaitha, 1306 B.S. His father's name was Kazi Fakir Ahamed and his mother's name was Zahea Khatun. When he was a child, he was known as "Dukhu Miah." He is my favorite poet.

Nazrul Islam attended the local Muktab school as a student. He was a smart student, but also mischievous. He completed his studies at the Muktab when he was eleven years old. After that, he became a teacher at the Muktab. During this time, his father passed away, and he joined a traveling theater group. He wrote plays and songs for the group. When he was in tenth grade, he joined the army and became a Havildar. From the army base, he sent poems and short stories to newspapers in Calcutta.

After the end of the First World War, he returned and started living in Calcutta. He wrote a poem called "Bidrohi," which made him famous overnight. However, he had to go to jail because of this poem. He wrote many poems against the British rulers and faced oppression for his writings.

He was a versatile writer. For almost twenty years, he wrote poems, novels, short stories, dramas, and songs. He was the greatest composer in Bengal. Some of his famous books include "Agni Bina," "Bisher Bashi," "Chakrabak," "Sindu Hindol," "Byather Dan," and "Aleya." His poems were filled with a rebellious spirit. He stood against all forms of oppression. He was also a well-known journalist.

Nazrul Islam is no longer with us. He is greatly honored as our national poet. Nazrul passed away in Dhaka on August 29, 1976. The nation will always remember him.
