Composition | Annual Tree Fair Or Brikkho Mela


Every year "Brikkho Mela" the annual tree fair takes in Bangladesh. The venue is on the national parade ground field in Agargaon. In 2011, it has taken place in month of June. It is a heaven for tree and nature enthusiasts. The main attraction is tree, from tiny to big. Many of them are suitable for roof top garden. One person needs a free roof, large drums and good soil to grow up a roof top garden.

Exotic varieties are plentiful. Some are local and some are foreign, like Egyptian Sweet Fig, Longan, Dragon Fruit, Passon Fruit, Avocado trees, Jambura, Tetul, Sofeda, Mango, Jackfruit etc. Prices depends on the trees and their availability. It may vary from some hundred to some thousand. 

In some stalls, Dried Oyster Mushroom can be found. Other mushrooms are also available here. In some stalls, various Bonsai can be found.

Banyan and Ashwath Bonsai are most popular. Nowadays, Bangladeshi Bonsai Artists are working on to local trees. Some are working on Mango, Hijol etc. 

You can find honey in many stalls. You can also find Kalijeera, Mustard or Lychee Flower Honey and many other varieties. Herbal plants can also be found - which are more commonly known as medicinal plants. 

Trees help us a lot in various ways. We should plant trees for our own interest. In the tree fair, we can find many varieties of trees from where we can choose which are suitable for us. That is why the annual tree fair or "Brikkho Mela" is very useful for us.
