The Curious Monkey

Once upon a time, there was a carpenter who lived in a village. One morning, the carpenter was working really hard to split a big piece of wood into two parts. He used a saw to cut the wood, but by noon, he had only managed to cut halfway through it. He started feeling hungry, so he stuck a small object called a wedge into the crack he had made in the wood and went to have lunch.

While all this was happening, there was a monkey watching the carpenter. The monkey got curious about the wedge that the carpenter had used. So, the monkey climbed down from a tree and went up to the piece of wood. The monkey tried to pull the wedge out of the crack, but it wouldn't come out. Then, the monkey had an idea. It sat on top of the wood with its legs on either side of the crack, and its tail hung down through the crack. The monkey tried really hard again and again, and suddenly, the wedge came out. But when the wedge came out, the wood snapped together quickly, and it caught the monkey's tail, cutting it off.

The poor monkey lost its tail because it was so curious. When the carpenter returned from his lunch, he felt sad to see the monkey without a tail.

The lesson we can learn from this story is: "Think before you act."
