21st February/ International Mother Language Day Paragraph
February 21st is a special day called International Mother Language Day. It's not just a regular day; it's very important in history. A long time ago, we had to go through many challenges to make our language, Bangla, an official language. We faced difficulties and even lost lives to make it happen. Our country, Bangladesh, remembers this day to honor those who gave their lives for our language.
This day is crucial because it marks the time when Bangla became our official language. Let me tell you the story behind it. Back then, the leaders of Pakistan, where Bangladesh was a part of, decided that everyone should speak Urdu. But we wanted our language, Bangla, to be respected too. So, on February 21, 1952, brave people in our country stood up against this decision. Some of them died for our language, and we call them language martyrs. Their names are Salam, Rafiq, Barkat, and Jabbar.
Because of their sacrifice, we gained respect and pride. This event also helped us move towards freedom from the control of West Pakistan. Today, the world recognizes that Bangla is an important language. In fact, this day is so special that the United Nations has named it International Mother Language Day. People all around the world celebrate this day to honor languages and cultures.
