Life of a Hawker Paragraph

A Hawker's Life

The life of a hawker is quite simple and not grand or fancy. It's filled with struggles, difficulties, and hard work. A hawker is a poor person from the lower class of society. They start their day early, buying inexpensive items to sell at a higher price. They carry these items in a cart or basket, sometimes just in their hands, and go around streets and roads selling them. You can usually find them in town neighborhoods, and nowadays even in village paths. They sell various things, like food and small toys, often things that are popular among women and children.

They go to residential areas in towns when the men of the family are not at home. They take advantage of this time to sell their goods. While walking around, they make unique calls or use a whistle to get children and women's attention. People recognize these sounds and come out to see what the hawker has to offer. Nowadays, hawkers also sell vegetables. They continue their work until evening because they can't sell things when it's dark. They head home when night starts to fall.

Life for a hawker is tough. They earn very little to support their family and often struggle to make ends meet. They face challenges, especially during bad weather, and sometimes they and their family go hungry. Their income is barely enough to cover their basic needs. So, their life is difficult, filled with sadness, and marked by poverty.
