Our War of Independence Paragraph

Our Fight for Freedom

Sometimes, a war happens when a place that's being treated unfairly, used badly, and not given what it needs, wants to be free. This kind of war is called a war for freedom. Bangladesh became free in 1971 after fighting a very tough battle for nine months. This all started because of events like the Language Movement in 1952 and the Mass Upsurge in 1969. The people of Bangladesh really wanted to be free because they were being treated badly by the rulers of Pakistan back then.

When the people here spoke up against being treated unfairly and used badly, the leaders of Pakistan sent their army to control the regular people. To silence the people who wanted freedom, the occupying forces did a terrible thing on the night of March 25, 1971. They started a big fight, which we now call our War of Independence. The leader who was leading the fight for our freedom, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was captured.

People from all walks of life, no matter their background, came together to fight against the occupying forces. They used simple weapons and tricks to fight against the well-equipped army. They formed a group called Mukti Bahini and divided the country into parts to fight better. The occupying forces hurt and killed many regular people, like smart folks, doctors, engineers, and teachers. But they couldn't win in the end. They had to give up because the regular people of Bangladesh were very determined to be free. This showed that you don't always need big weapons to win a war for freedom.

Finally, on December 16, 1971, the people of Bangladesh won their freedom. This is when Bangladesh officially became its own country after a lot of struggle and sacrifice. About 3 million people lost their lives in this fight for freedom. Every year, we celebrate our independence with a lot of excitement and happiness.
