Honesty is the Best Policy Story

Once upon a time, there was a poor farmer who worked really hard to take care of his big family. However, it was tough for him to even get two good meals in a day. One day, while he was working in the field, he discovered a basket. He picked it up carefully and took it home to show his wife. They opened the basket and were very surprised to see that it was full of gold coins. His wife suggested that they use the coins, or at least some of them. But the farmer, who was a good and honest person, told his wife that it's best to always tell the truth, and he wanted to find out who the basket belonged to.

After searching, he finally found the owner and returned the basket. The man thanked him but didn't give any reward. When the farmer got back home, his wife scolded him for not keeping some of the coins. However, he repeated his belief, "Being honest is the best way."

After a few days, the owner of the basket came to the farmer's house. He introduced himself as the important person in that area and expressed his surprise at the farmer's honesty. The owner then offered the farmer a job as the overseer of his lands. As a gesture of trust, he gave the farmer a hundred coins in advance for his salary. He wished the farmer well and asked him to start the job the next day. With a sense of accomplishment, the owner left. While looking at the coins, the farmer's wife remembered his words, "Being honest is the best way."
