Who Will Put a Bell on the Cat?
Once upon a time, there was a rich man whose house was filled with rats. It was like the story of the town of Hamelin, where rats were everywhere. These rats caused a lot of problems. They ran around the house, making noise, scaring people, and even biting children. The owner of the house was in big trouble, so he decided to get a cat to chase away the rats. This made life difficult for the rats. They lost their comfortable living conditions and were in danger from the cat. Many rats gathered for a meeting to figure out what to do. They talked and thought of different ideas.
At the end of the meeting, a young rat stood up with a strong suggestion. He said that they should tie a bell around the cat's neck. This way, whenever the cat approached, the sound of the bell would warn them, and they could run away quickly. Everyone in the meeting liked this idea and praised the young rat. But then, an old mouse spoke up. He agreed that the young rat's idea was good, but he asked a crucial question: "Who will actually be brave enough to put the bell on the cat?"
This question silenced the room. The meeting ended without a decision, and the mice left the house to protect themselves from the cat.
