Pahela Baishakh Paragraph

The first day of the Bengali year is called Pahela Baishakh. We celebrate this day to show that a new year in the Bengali calendar is starting. People in the country have special activities on this day. People in villages have a fair called Baishakhi Mela. Shopkeepers open their account books and give sweets to their customers. This day is important for people in cities too. They wake up early and wear their best clothes, like pajamas and Punjabi outfits. They eat soaked rice with dried peppers. They spend the whole day being very happy and forgetting about life's problems for a while. In towns, different groups have meetings, seminars, discussions, and cultural events. Pahela Baishakh is very important. It shows our old traditions and culture. It proves that we have our own culture. It shows our cultural heritage.
