The Story of King Midas and His Greedy Wish
Once upon a time, there was a king named Midas. He really, really liked gold. Even though he had a bunch of it, he wanted even more. He thought if everything he touched turned into gold, he would be super happy. A smart god gave him this power when he asked for it.
One day, the king was sitting under a tree with apples in his garden. Suddenly, a ripe apple fell near him. He picked it up, and when he touched it, the apple magically turned into gold. It was so amazing, he could hardly believe it. After that, anything he touched turned into gold. He went inside his house, and when his little daughter ran up to him and he hugged her, she instantly turned into gold. The king was really scared and sad. He shouted in pain. Right away, the wise god took away the power to turn things into gold, and the girl became a normal human again.
