Dowry System Paragraph
Dowry is when a bride gives money or property to her husband when they get married. It's a shameful tradition that exists in our society, mostly in Bangladesh and India.
There are a few reasons why this practice is wrong. First, it originated from Hindu communities where daughters don't inherit their parents' property. Second, some people are greedy and believe they have the right to demand dowry from the bride's family because they spent money on the groom's education. Third, social customs also play a role, as the dowry system is common in certain rural areas.
Despite progress and the increasing involvement of women in all aspects of life, this practice is spreading in Bangladesh. It affects both the bride's family and society. Poor parents find it extremely burdensome. If the bride's family can't meet the demands of the groom's family, the bride may face cruel treatment and even physical abuse.
Women are human beings, just like men, and should not be treated as commodities. It is unfortunate that they are treated this way. To address this issue, the government should take action to eradicate the dowry system. We should prioritize female education and enforce effective laws. The media can also help raise awareness about the negative effects of dowry.
