Paragraph on Earthquake
An earthquake is when the ground suddenly shakes really hard. It happens because parts of the Earth's surface, called tectonic plates, move or when there is volcanic activity. Sometimes, these plates crash into each other and one can slide under the other. This creates a lot of pressure that builds up. When the pressure is released, it causes an earthquake.
Earthquakes can be big or small. The size is measured using the Richter scale, which goes from 1 to 10. The higher the number, the stronger the earthquake is.
Earthquakes can be really dangerous. They can hurt people and damage buildings and roads. They can even cause other problems like landslides, tsunamis (big waves), and liquefaction (when the ground turns to liquid). That's why it's important to be ready for earthquakes. We can do things like making sure buildings are strong enough to handle them, having plans for emergencies, and practicing what to do during an earthquake.
