Paragraph on Environment Problem: Arsenic
Bangladesh is a small country with a mostly rural economy. It is known for its beautiful rivers and landscapes. However, a significant portion of the country is low-lying and covered with sediment from rivers, deltas, and the coast. This has led to a problem with water-borne diseases. People have been using surface water for their needs, but it is not safe. Tube well water has been considered a safer option for drinking and other domestic purposes.
Unfortunately, we are facing some problems in our daily lives. The environment is becoming more and more polluted every day. One of the pollutants is arsenic, which is a tasteless, colorless, and odorless substance commonly found in groundwater. Arsenic slowly harms human life and is often found in tube well water. It can also be found in soil, and traces of arsenic have been found in some drinking water.
Drinking water contaminated with arsenic can lead to various diseases. It causes sores on the palms of hands and feet, which is a significant problem in our area. The village of Milgram, located in the Bogra Thana headquarters, is heavily affected by this poison. Many tube wells in the area are contaminated with arsenic, and due to a lack of awareness, people continue to drink from these wells. The effects of this poison have become severe, with nearly 100 people suffering from incurable sores. Both children and elderly people are affected to varying degrees. Since most of them are unaware of how to maintain good health, they are at risk of death without proper treatment.
It is crucial for the government to take necessary measures to address this issue. We must also take utmost care and protect ourselves from this poison. Finding an effective solution to this problem is essential for our well-being.
