The Statue of Liberty is a big statue standing on Liberty Island in New York, USA. It was given to America by the people of France to show freedom and democracy. They officially unveiled it in 1886, and it became a National Monument in 1924.
The whole statue is 305 feet 1 inch tall, which is about 93 meters. A sculptor from France named Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi created it. The U.S. National Park Service has been in charge of taking care of it since 1933. Remember, it was a gift from the people of France.
