Paragraph on Tokai

Tokai is a word used locally in Bangladesh. It refers to someone who collects or gathers abandoned items. A tokai is a young boy who doesn't have a home or a family. He lives a very dirty and unhealthy life. He wears torn and patched clothes, which emit a bad smell. He wanders around the streets, picking up torn papers, clothes, wood, and other things that have been thrown away. He earns a living by selling these items. At night, tokais sleep on shop verandas, street pavements, or railway platforms. If they manage to save some money, they may go to the cinema to watch a movie.

Tokais become important when political leaders want to show a large number of supporters. They hire tokais from the streets and provide them with packed lunches. During strikes, tokais are hired for picketing, and they also participate in political processions.
