Brahmin and The Cobra Stories for Kids
Once upon a time, there was a poor man called a Brahmin who lived in a little village. He worked hard in the fields, but his efforts didn't bring good results. One day, after a long day of work, he rested under a tree and noticed a snake approaching him. He went to get some milk and offered it to the snake. The snake was happy and gave the Brahmin a gold coin. From that day on, the Brahmin would give milk to the snake and receive a gold coin in return.
One day, the Brahmin got sick and couldn't go to the snake. So, he asked his son to take care of it. The son brought milk to the snake's spot and left it there. When he returned the next day, he found a gold coin in the bowl. The son began to think that there might be more gold coins where the snake lived. He thought of killing the snake to take all the coins for himself.
The son came to the field with milk and a stick, planning to kill the snake. He offered the milk but tried to hit the snake with the stick. The snake quickly moved and bit the boy in self-defense.
After a few days, the Brahmin came back to the village and learned about his son's death. He discovered what had happened and went back to the field where the snake lived. He spoke loudly, praising the snake, and placed the milk near the tree. He apologized and asked for forgiveness. To his surprise, the snake appeared and gave the Brahmin many coins. The snake explained that it had bitten the son because he had tried to harm it with a stick. The snake then told the Brahmin to stay well and happy, but to never approach it again. With that, the snake disappeared.
The lesson here is that being too greedy can lead to problems.
