Conversation talking with famous painter at a party
Nadia: Hi there, Ameen Gulfam! I'm really happy to meet you. I've seen your artworks a lot and I really like them. But I never thought I'd actually get to meet you in person.
Gulfam: Meeting someone who's into art is always nice for me.
N: And your sculptures! I'm a big fan of yours. What really interests me is how you make rough stones into smooth, even surfaces.
G: Oh yes. Much of art involves getting the raw materials like wood, stone, and paint to do things that haven't been done before.
N: Yeah, I totally get that.
G: The problem is, not many people these days care about genuine art.
N: You mean there's not much appreciation for it.
G: Exactly. And you know, there are always money troubles.
N: Hi Khalid. Let me introduce my husband, Khalid Salmeem. Khalid, this is Ameen Gulfam. We've been having the most fascinating conversation.
Khalid: Nice to meet you. What were you discussing?
G: Art.
K: Art?
N: Mr. Gulfam, the famous artist who makes paintings and sculptures.
K: Oh!
N: Both of us really admire your work, right Khalid?
G: (to Khalid) And what do you do? Are you connected to the art world?
K: No, no, I'm actually in business. I came up with the idea for the inflatable umbrella.
G: You what!
K: Yes, yes. You know, those umbrellas that...
G: Well, I'll be! That's amazing! You actually thought of those umbrellas!
K: That's correct.
G: They've really changed the look of the streets! They're made of plastic. Impressive.
K: Thanks. Honestly, I've always wanted to be a painter since I was young. But somehow...
G: Well, that's interesting. I've always been a bit envious of you folks who invent things. You use your imagination and make a profit.
