King Lear And His Three Daughters

Once upon a time, there was a really powerful old king in England named King Lear. He was tired of being in charge and wanted a break. He decided to step down from being king and split his kingdom. He had three daughters: Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. He thought of dividing his kingdom into three pieces and giving one to each daughter. But before he did that, he wanted to find out how much they loved him.

First, Lear asked his oldest daughter, "How much do you love me?" Goneril said, "Sir, I love you more than I can express." This made King Lear happy, so he went and asked the same question to his second daughter, Regan. She replied, "My love for you will never change, no matter what." Lear was really content with her answer. Then it was Cordelia's turn, his youngest daughter whom he loved the most. Cordelia didn't like to say things just to make people happy. She answered that she loved him as much as a daughter should love her father.

King Lear got really angry when he heard Cordelia's answer. He got so upset that he kicked her out of the country and gave his kingdom to his other two daughters. Cordelia found refuge in a forest. One day, the Prince of France went hunting and saw Cordelia. He was so impressed by her beauty that he married her.

Meanwhile, the king became a problem for his other two daughters. They didn't like having him around anymore. Lear was really shocked when he realized that his two daughters were lying to him. He got really sick. One day, Goneril and Regan kicked him out of the kingdom. Cordelia found out about this and came with an army from France to save her father. King Lear finally understood that Cordelia's love was real.
