The Pied Piper Of Hamelin
The Tale of the Pied Piper, the Rats, and the Mayor
Once upon a time, there was a town called Hamelin that was overrun by rats. These rats were causing a lot of problems. They were everywhere, causing mischief by taking food, ruining clothes, and making holes. People couldn't sleep well because of them, and sometimes, the rats even bit babies. They didn't even fear the cats! Life in the town became really frustrating and dull, and the people were fed up. So, they went to talk to the Mayor of the town.
But the Mayor didn't really do much to solve the problem. They just talked and talked, and nothing really changed. Then, out of nowhere, a stranger dressed in colorful clothes came into the town hall. This stranger told the Mayor, "If you give me a lot of money, I can get rid of the rats for you." The Mayor agreed.
The stranger left the hall, pulled out a unique red flute, and started playing it. Amazingly, all the rats in the town started following the music. The stranger led them to the river, and the rats all jumped in and disappeared. After that, the stranger went back to the Mayor to get the money they were promised.
But here's where things got tricky. The Mayor didn't want to pay the full amount. They thought the stranger's work wasn't worth that much. The stranger didn't argue; instead, they took out another strange flute and played it. This time, they led the children of the town away. The kids followed the music, and they vanished behind a faraway hill. So, the town lost all its children because they didn't treat the stranger fairly.
