Who is to Bell the Cat
Once upon a time, a wealthy man's house was overrun with rats. It was like the story of the Pied Piper in the town of Hamelin. Rats were absolutely everywhere. They were having a grand old time, but the people in the house couldn't sleep well. Even the little babies weren't safe from the rat attacks and bites. The rats would steal food, ruin clothes, and make holes all over the place. Everyone in the house was in big trouble.
Finally, the owner of the house came up with a plan. He knew that rats would run away if they saw a cat. So, he got a cat to catch the rats. The rats found out about the cat's arrival. Their lives were in danger. All the mice gathered for a meeting. They decided that they should attach a bell to the cat's neck so they could hear the cat coming. They made a lot of noise about this idea, but none of the rats wanted to be the one to actually put the bell on the cat. They believed that the rat who tried to do it would probably get killed by the cat. In the end, they couldn't figure out who would bell the cat. So, the mice had no choice but to leave the house for good.
