Two Students Talking About Exams

Bashir: Hi Akram, how did the exam go?
Akram: Ugh, exams are such a pain! I don't get why they're so important. What's the point of testing us? Exams are all about memorizing stuff. If you can remember things, you'll probably pass, even if you don't really understand it!

Bashir: Well, you really don't like exams, huh? But they're actually a necessary part of learning. You spend a year or two studying, and then they want to see how well you've learned. Exams are the main way they measure that. So, we kind of have to deal with it.
Akram: I don't trust these exams. It's more luck than anything. They give you a few questions from what you've studied, and that's it! It's all about memorizing facts. If you're good at that, you just spit it out during the exam and get good grades.

Bashir: I get where you're coming from, but even with all your complaints, exams are still a way to understand someone's abilities. Maybe they could include interviews as part of the exam process. This has been the way for a long time, and there's no real alternative.
Akram: You know, every year, the top students criticize exams and suggest a semester system. Different types of education methods are used in different places, and our system is a mix of everything. It's hard to know what's actually helpful.

Bashir: I think the semester system makes sense. You really dive into your books, but then you forget everything once the test is done. It breaks the flow. What's important is consistent effort, understanding the material, and reviewing it regularly.
Akram: Your study method sounds reasonable. Last-minute cramming doesn't work. It's about steady work throughout the year and revisiting the material.
Bashir: I'm glad you're on the same page now. We can't change the exam system, so we just have to deal with it. Let's focus on studying.
