Composition | A Birthday Party

My older brother turned 21 on the 10th of this month. To celebrate, my dad threw a big dinner party. Many of our relatives and my brother's close friends were invited to join the party. Since my grandmother couldn't handle a long event away from home due to her age, we held the party at our house. We made sure to clean, paint, and decorate the house before the special day.

Around 5 p.m., the guests started arriving. My brother, our parents, and I were all ready to welcome them at the front door. As they came in, they congratulated my brother and wished him a happy birthday. Even though we had told them not to bring gifts, most of the guests still brought presents. We accepted them gratefully, knowing it wasn't the right time to return them. Our living room table was covered with gift bags containing books, pens, clothes, and other things.

My dad gave my brother a brand new watch called a "Rolex" as his birthday present, and my mom bought him a new fountain pen. My siblings and I showed our affection by pooling our savings from the month to buy him a pair of shoes. And our grandmother gave him a generous cash gift.

By 6 p.m., everyone except our parents and my brother had taken their seats in the hall. They stood up and sang a birthday song that suited the occasion. Afterward, we all sat back down and the dinner began. It included a variety of delicious dishes prepared by my mom. In between courses, there were speeches, songs, and small treats. The dinner went on until 8 p.m.

After the meal, we played some games. When we felt ready, we decided to have a few dances. We had pre-recorded some dance tunes, which we played. We danced and danced until we got tired. At one point, even our parents joined in, receiving loud applause from the onlookers. My grandmother, sitting comfortably in her chair, was probably the happiest person there.

Around 11 p.m., the dancing came to an end. Our parents and my brother said goodbye to the guests and thanked them for coming. The guests, in return, expressed their gratitude for the enjoyable time they had.
