Composition | A Good Citizen

A citizen is someone who lives in a town or country and enjoys all the rights and privileges that come with it. They are part of a community, which is made up of many other citizens. Being part of a community allows them to live a peaceful life, but in return, they have certain responsibilities to fulfill.

First and foremost, a citizen loves their country and is willing to give up everything, even their life, to protect its freedom and honor. However, loving one's own country does not mean hating other countries. A good citizen understands this well and respects the customs and traditions of other countries. In turn, they hope that the citizens of those countries will also respect their own customs and traditions. In a diverse country like Pakistan, where people come from different races and backgrounds, a good citizen is particularly aware of the importance of tolerating the views and customs of others.

Similar to a true friend who isn't afraid to point out their friend's faults, a good citizen is not afraid to express disagreement with those in power if they believe their actions will harm the country's interests. If their country is in the wrong during an international dispute, they don't hesitate to express their true opinion. However, when it comes to war, they support their own country, whether it's right or wrong.

A good citizen follows the laws of their country. They do so not out of fear of punishment, but because they believe it is their duty to obey. They don't try to avoid paying taxes or cheat the government in any other way. If they are unhappy with any of the rules and regulations imposed by the government, they work to change them, but only through legal means. They not only refrain from committing crimes and engaging in illegal practices themselves, but they also help authorities if they become aware of any violations of the law.

Instead of relying on others for help, a good citizen is always ready to lend a hand to those in need. They generously contribute to funds that aim to improve the well-being of the people.

However, the most important aspect of being a citizen is having good moral character. The overall character of a nation is ultimately determined by the character of its citizens. If a country has honest and respectable citizens, it will earn respect in other countries. Perhaps the best way to develop a sense of responsibility and respectability among the citizens is to provide them with the best education possible.
