Composition | A Road Safety Campaign In My Town

After a lot of serious accidents on our roads, the traffic police in our town started a safety campaign. The Chief Police Officers officially started it. They invited people from schools, businesses, and government offices to come to the event. They also wanted all drivers and people walking to be there.

The Chief Police Officer talked about the increasing number of deaths and serious injuries caused by road accidents. They emphasized the importance of knowing and following the Highway Code. They also told everyone to keep cars with problems off the road because they cause the most accidents.

Once the campaign was officially started, some people from the motor vehicle office showed off their driving skills. They impressed the audience by driving well, reversing, stopping, changing gears, and turning correctly. They also showed how accidents happen and how to prevent them. Some traffic police officers showed how pedestrians and motorcyclists can cause accidents too.

Many service stations and repair shops in town offered free vehicle checks for drivers. Lots of drivers and people on motorcycles and scooters took advantage of this. Outside of town, the traffic police marked measured distances on the road to help drivers check their speed.

For the students, they held special games about traffic safety in the town field. They showed how to cross the road, turn correctly, enter the road, and stop while riding a bike or motorcycle. In different schools, the prefects checked each bicycle for problems or missing equipment. People who had bikes without locks, bells, lights, reflectors, or good brakes had to pay a fine and fix the problems right away.

The traffic police also visited schools to talk to the students and teachers. They repeated the important points made by the Chief Police Officer at the start of the safety campaign.
