Composition | A Street Fire

Last night, I went to bed earlier than usual. I hadn't slept for long when I was woken up by loud cries of "Fire!" from the street below. Along with the cries, I heard people rushing past my house. I quickly got dressed and joined the growing crowd outside.

When I reached the house that was on fire, I saw that the entire ground floor was engulfed in flames. A family on the first floor was trapped and in danger of being burned to death. They were desperately crying for help, but everyone was in a state of confusion and had forgotten to call the fire brigade or the police. People were running around, trying to put out the fire with water or saving whatever they could from the burning house.

Realizing this, I ran to the nearest house with a telephone and called for help. Within a few minutes, a group of policemen arrived. They secured the salvaged items from the burning house to protect them from thieves. Shortly after, a fire engine arrived. The firefighters quickly got to work. Some of them leaned a long ladder against the wall, reaching up to the first floor of the house. They climbed up the ladder to rescue the trapped occupants. Others attached a large hose to a nearby fire hydrant and aimed a powerful stream of water at the most intense flames.

A few minutes later, we witnessed the people from the first floor being brought down the ladder with assistance. The firefighters then reentered the first floor and retrieved as many valuable belongings as possible. By this time, the fire was under control, but it was too late to save the entire building. The first floor collapsed with a loud crash, sending up a cloud of dust and smoke. Only a pile of smoldering debris remained where the majestic building had stood just moments before. Thankfully, the firefighters had arrived in time to rescue the occupants of the first floor.

The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire, which remains a mystery.
