Composition | A Thunderstorm

Yesterday, I came back home from school late. It was a really hot afternoon. There were no clouds in the sky and the air was very still. The sun was shining very brightly. When I got home, I put my books away and took a nice bath. Then I laid down for a short nap and quickly fell asleep.

After a while, I woke up because I heard a loud noise like a big boom. I barely opened my eyes when I saw a flash of lightning that lit up my room. It was followed by a loud crash of thunder. The sky outside was covered with clouds.

I sat up in bed, surprised by the sudden change in the weather. Suddenly, it started raining heavily. The air was no longer calm, and a strong wind began to blow. Lightning flashed and thunder roared every now and then. A tree outside our house was hit by lightning. In just a second, all its branches were stripped away. The rain, pushed by the strong wind, hit the doors and windows of the house hard. Everyone in the house was busy closing them. However, I was so engrossed in watching the scene that I forgot to close the doors and windows of my room. Before I realized what was happening, half of the floor was underwater. When I finally closed the doors and windows, it became very dark inside the room. I turned on the light, only to find that there was no electricity. The storm had also affected the power supply. It wasn't restored until the next morning.

Most of the roads in the town were flooded. Along with the heavy rain pouring down heavily, visibility became very poor. As a result, many vehicles got stuck, bringing the traffic to a halt.

The storm lasted for about an hour. When the rain stopped and the wind calmed down, the weather became very pleasant again. That was perhaps the only good thing about the storm. Otherwise, it had caused a lot of damage to property. The roofs of many houses were blown away, and floodwater entered many houses in the low-lying areas of the town, leaving many people without homes for the night.
