Composition | Tea/ A Hot Drink
Tea is a plant that is grown and enjoyed all over the world. It is a very popular hot drink in our country and almost everyone likes it. We need to learn about where it grows, how it is grown and harvested, how it is prepared, and its advantages and disadvantages.
Tea grows best in hilly areas. It is mainly grown in China, India, Ceylon, Brazil, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. In Bangladesh, Sylhet and Chittagong Hill Tracts are good places for growing tea.
The process begins by planting tea seeds in a special nursery. Within a few days, small seedlings start to grow. Once they are a few inches tall, they are moved to the tea garden. The garden is taken care of by workers who fertilize the soil and remove any weeds. The tea plants are planted on the slopes of hills.
Tea leaves and buds are picked several times a year. The workers in the garden gather the tea leaves. After picking, the leaves are dried in the sun until they turn a copper color. Then they are taken to a room with hot air to become black or crispy. If the leaves are dried slowly, they make black tea. If they are dried quickly, they make crispy tea. This is how tea is prepared for use and sale.
We can easily make tea at home. First, we boil water in a kettle. Then we add a certain amount of tea leaves to the boiled water. After some time, the leaves release their color, and the water turns reddish. This is called the tea liquor. We pour the liquor into cups or mugs and mix in sugar and milk if desired. Sometimes we use raw tea, which is added directly to boiled water and mixed with sugar. This is how we make tea for drinking.
Tea helps us stay active and refreshes our mind and body. People in villages often drink tea, and many people in our country really enjoy it. In addition, we earn a lot of money from exporting tea every year. However, drinking too much tea is not good for our health. It can be harmful to us sometimes.
Tea is very beneficial to us, so we should increase tea cultivation. The government should provide necessary funds to the tea growers to support them.
