Story | The Peacock

Once upon a time, before the Peacock had its beautiful tail, it was just a regular bird with a small group of feathers. One day, the Peacock went to see Juno, the Goddess of Protection. The Peacock told Juno that it wanted to look grand and beautiful. Juno smiled because she liked the Peacock and knew it was a good bird.

The Peacock explained to Juno about the long train of brightly colored feathers it wanted to have trailing behind it. It also wanted to be the most beautiful bird of all! To the Peacock's great joy, Juno agreed to grant its wish.

Oh, what a wonderful tail the Peacock received! It was blue and green with a pattern that looked like precious jewels. When the Peacock raised its tail, it opened up like a fan. Now the Peacock felt like a king and walked with great style, holding its head high.

The other birds were amazed when they saw the Peacock's tail! Even the pretty long-tailed pheasants were jealous! After showing off its tail, the Peacock decided to try flying.

But to its surprise, the Peacock couldn't fly. It could only take a few steps in the air before coming back down. The Peacock sadly realized that it had lost the ability to fly just because it had wanted to look good.

The moral of the story is: Think carefully before making choices in life.
