Chikungunya is a viral disease. The virus spreads among people through mosquitoes. In 1952, it was first known in the southern part of Tanzania to spread the disease. The name Chikungunya came from the Kimakondi language. Locally, it means 'waving'. The name of this disease has been caused due to severe pain in the patient's body.
Chikunaguna symptoms are found in the body within four to seven days of bites of infectious mosquito. This usually starts with severe fever (104 ° Fahrenheit). In addition, pain in the bones of the body is felt. Other signs of Chikungunya also include muscle spots and headache, nausea, fatigue and rashes in the skin. Bone joints pain can be very severe, which can last several days to several weeks.
Most of the Chikungunya patients were completely recovered. However, there are reports of bone joints pain lasting for several months and even for a few years. In some cases, eye, heart, nervous system and gastrointestinal problems also occur. Since the symptoms are not severe in the infected body, there is a problem of detecting the disease, which is likely to cause danger.
In rare cases, Chikungunya is the cause of death. Usually two to three days the patient starts to recover. The infected person has chikungunya virus for five to seven days. During this time, the patient gets bitten by mosquitoes and is also infected with the virus and spreads the virus. Checking blood serum can be sure about Chikungunya. This disease does not happen more than once in life.

There is no specific antiviral medicine in Chikungunya. Generally, treatment is given to reduce pain due to symptoms. No antibody vaccination is available commercially in Chikungunya.
To prevent chikungunya, its breeding mosquito breeding site must be destroyed. Mosquitoes breed in water accumulating in containers. So keep an eye on the open container that water does not accumulate. If chikungunya is spread, pesticides will be used at home.
Edis mosquito usually bites during the day. It is advisable to wear such clothes that mosquitoes can not sit in the body. Children, sick people or older who are sleeping during the day are advised to use mosquito net. The mosquito coil can also play an effective role in this case.
