Democracy and Development - an Interrelationship Composition

Democracy is the precondition of the development of a country. Where there is democracy, there is development. Development becomes easy when democracy prevails in a country. The political parties form a democratic rule. They are composed of the union of all classes of people. In a democratic system, discrimination begins to decrease among the people. People can express what they want to. They can work collectively. So lasting development becomes gradually possible.

Abraham Lincoln attempts to define the nature of government in his famous "Gettysburg Address." Here he discusses a particular type of government. This government must consist of the people. It is elected and formed by the people, and it must work for the people. Indeed, the nature of this government indicates a democratic system. In a democratic system, the power to rule over the citizens must come from the people themselves. The majority of people play a crucial role in forming this government system. Thus, they actively participate in the development of a country. They can work together in times of disaster. They set aside their differences in political idealism and philosophy during those moments.

Democracy itself may differ significantly in various social systems. It varies from country to country. It has no single father. It is born and nurtured in different societies in different ways. But only one slogan is echoed from its voice. This single and unique slogan is undoubtedly 'development.' Democracy hastens development. An interrelationship between the two is evident and inevitable.

Democracy is undoubtedly a system of preserving the voting power of the people. Rather, it is the accurate means of fulfilling the economic expectations of the people. In a democratic system, the people entrust their power to a certain party for a specific period of time. They expect that the concerned party must work for the broader interest of the public as a whole. When this is ensured, development is a necessity.

However, democracy and development are interconnected. When one suffers, the other stumbles. If democracy is a tree, development is a ripe fruit.
