Dowry System Composition
Dowry System
The dowry system is a terrible social problem in our country. It treats women with disrespect and humiliation. Many young married girls suffer because of it. Some are even treated badly or killed by their husbands and in-laws. Despite our advanced and cultured society, young married girls in Bangladesh endure this cruel practice of dowry.
This evil practice stems from the wrong belief that women are inferior to men and exist only to serve and please them. Lack of moral education and selfish interests contribute to this problem. Sadly, even educated men demand huge sums of money or expensive gifts as dowry.
The lack of higher education for women also plays a role in this heinous system. They often depend on men for their livelihood. Proper education can empower them to find good jobs and become financially independent. Neglecting religious and moral values also leads people to demand dowry, resulting in torture and divorce for many young married women.
To end this oppression against women, we must take action. The government should strictly enforce laws against torturing women. Women should receive proper education and contribute to their family's income through respectable jobs after marriage. We need to improve our moral values and raise awareness about the cruelty of dowry. Public and private organizations should work together urgently to fight against this practice. Anti-dowry campaigns should be started immediately and effectively. Additionally, poverty alleviation programs must be strengthened.
Dowry has become a curse in Bangladesh. As a civilized nation, we should abolish it. We need to be cautious about the tradition of giving gifts during marriage ceremonies. The sooner we eliminate this curse, the better it will be for everyone, especially for the dignity and respect of women.
